VW Tuinderijen, VW Maxburg and Meer Fresh Products

With the introduction of Roma tomatoes in Belgium and investments in CO₂ neutral wood boilers, combined heat and power and assimilation lighting, VW Tuinderijen has always been at the forefront. In 2016, a new chapter was added: VW Maxburg, a 10-hectare greenhouse complex in Meer, fully equipped to grow delicious tomatoes all year round. A little later, Meer Fresh Products also followed, where more than 13 hectares are grown with and without lighting.

What makes this story even more powerful? The next generation is already firmly in the ranks. Son Mitch manages VW Maxburg, daughter Lynn takes cultivation quality to a higher level as location manager, and son-in-law Dries brings his expertise as cultivation manager to Meer Fresh Products. Each of them shares the same drive and love for the product.

Innovation remains a common thread: with floating solar panels, electric boilers, LED lighting and extensive automation, we work every day to achieve more sustainable and efficient cultivation. Ergonomics in the workplace also gets plenty of attention; taking good care of your people is just as important as taking good care of your plants.

Their tomato tip? A Sweetest Queen tomato roasted in the oven with olive oil, garlic and a pinch of sea salt; pure, powerful and full of flavour.

VW's strength lies in their connection as a family, their drive to innovate, and their belief in cooperation. Together with Tomeco, they work every day for the future of sustainable tomato cultivation, where knowledge is shared, quality is key and taste comes first.
